History

The first CHARM conference (originally called the North American Workshop on Historical Research in Marketing) was organized by Stanley C. Hollander and hosted by Michigan State University in 1983. Michigan State continued to host many of the subsequent CHARM conferences through 2003.

Since 2003, CHARM has become international in scope with conference sites typically alternating between locations in North America and Europe. Several doctoral workshops have also been included as part of more recent CHARM meetings.
